GIRLS CLUB is seeking qualified candidates to join us in the newly-formed role of Friendship Facilitator
To apply: If you believe in our mission and vision, and have the expertise we seek, please send a cover letter and your resume to info@inGIRLSCLUB.com
We thank everyone for their interest, but only qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview to review motivations, qualifications and availability.
Role Purpose & Responsibilities
The Friendship Facilitator is a new role, created to take part in a new pilot program being developed by GIRLS CLUB called The Friendship Café.
The Friendship Café will be an intimate (smallish) event where girls will be invited to gather in small groups of 3 to 4 to participate in a group activity, and use that time / activity to connect and start to form friendships.
The Friendship Facilitator’s role is to:
· Set up / explain / navigate the activity (e.g., game, craft, etc.)
· Help connect the girls, and facilitate interactions between them to help friendship blossom
This is not a social skills class, and the role is not to teach social skills specifically. It is to be a bridge – to help the girls cross toward each other, reducing the gap between them which may exist due to shyness, anxiety, or a lack of knowing how best to engage or show interest.
Required Qualifications
· Experience working with neurodivergent children / young people – as either an Education Assistant (EA), Behavioural Interventionist/Consultant (BI, BC), Support/Respite Worker (SW/RW), or related role
· Desire to help young people thrive, make friends, have fun, and make positive memories
· A can-do, upbeat, and fun-loving demeanour in keeping with the vibe of GIRLS CLUB
· Highly reliable: on time, when making a commitment, shows up
· A current criminal record check is mandatory
Friendship Facilitators are being hired as part of a pilot project to assess the feasibility of a long-term program for GIRLS CLUB. The pilot will be held on the afternoon of Sunday, Feb 23, at the Pacific Autism Family Network Hub building in Richmond, BC (3688 Cessna Dr).
The initial shift will be four hours:
11:30am – 11:40am: Arrival, check in
11:40am – 12:30pm: Training (a simple lunch will be provided)
12:30pm – 12:50pm: Prep / set up for participant arrivals
1:00pm – 2:15pm: Friendship Café with participating members
2:30pm – 3:30pm: Debrief (lessons learned from pilot)
GIRLS CLUB will pay an hourly rate of $40.00/hour
If the pilot goes well, we anticipate holding this event 4x/year (e.g. Feb, May, Sept, Nov – typically on the last Sunday of the month). Successful Friendship Facilitators will be invited back to participate in subsequent sessions.
